Model blackout issues when making components

If ambient occlusion is active when I make a component, either one of two things happens:

  • The new component object becomes a black silhouette until I click another tool, click negative space, or hit escape.
  • Or a chunk of the SketchUp model window blacks out.

This is using the new graphics engine (AO isn’t available in the old one)
It is a repeatable bug
I’ve toggled AO on and off to determine it is the culprit
I’ve also toggled between graphics engines and it does only occur with AO turned on

I don’t seen any current topics about this issue, is it known? Or any helpful workarounds beyond “Don’t use AO if it’s causing a problem”

yeah AO can do stuff like that, it’s really more of a “final render” tool, like complex styles that imitate hand-drawing techniques. or shadows (if your model is complex).
it’s still new in sketchup, not all the bugs have been found / fixed

@Barry I don’t know if there is a ticket on that one

The extra click or two to refresh the window isn’t problematic, it’s more just a little hiccup in flow. AO is a welcome advancement in modeling and presentation. Thanks for the response.
