Microsoft Office no longer supports SketchUp?

I use the embed sketchup into power point/word a lot with my internal and external customers. The past week and a half I have been getting the following error when trying to drag and drop a skp file into PPT

“The 3D model C:\User…skp” you’re trying to insert was saved with features that aren’t supported in Office"

When I try and insert into office fia 3D model SketchUp is not listed anymore as a file type. Not sure if this is an office, sketchup or my version issue.

Office PPT version : 2304 build 16327.20248
sketchup version 23.0.419

thanks

Just a wild guess : if you save the file in an older version of SketchUp, can you then paste that file in Power Point/Word?

Saved to both a 2020 and 2018 version. both gave the same error message. Trying to find a computer that did not update to the latest office version to see if an older version of office still allows you to embed a skp file.

I’ve just checked and the option is missing from all of my Office products.
There was an update recently - I wonder if Microsoft have have removed it by accident?

(June 1, 2023) UPDATE: The ability to insert SketchUp graphics (.skp files) has been temporarily disabled in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook for Windows and Mac. Versions of Office that had this feature enabled will no longer have access it. 3D models in Office documents that were previously inserted from a SketchUp file will continue to work as expected unless the Link to File option was chosen at insert time. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure the security and functionality of this feature.

I use the feature quite a bit too. Hope they bring it back soon.

thanks everyone, at least I know it’s not on my end. crossing fingers this comes back ASAP.

Minor work around. Export as STL and import into office via STL. You do lose all textures and color. It imports as a plain white model.

It’s sad they removed it. It used to be my favorite tool, but I had to replace it. I’m using 3d MAX now, which is pretty decent too. My tech support from https://www.nerdused.com/products/microsoft-office-home-business-for-mac-2021-lifetime-license told me about it and helped me install it. There’s other options too, but I felt like this one works best for me.
