Method or solution for "reference planes"? (Besides DropGC)

Quite often, when designing a house, we have a need for certain heights that extend throughout the project, i.e.:

Ground Plane
Finished Floor
Baseboard Moulding Center
Wall Outlet Height
Countertop Height

and so on.

Is there any way to set up these heights as “reference planes” and send objects to that height? I.e. “define [Countertop Height] as ‘36 inches above finished floor’” and “Send to Countertop Height”?

Right now, I’m using the “DropGC” extension, which is part of the “JHS Powerbar” extension, but while it lets me drop an object to a typed height, I still have to remember which height is which.

Is there an extension that lets you “Drop to [Countertop Height]” as opposed to “Drop to [typed value]”?

(Ideally, if I was a Ruby programmer, I’d make an extension that lets you define specific heights and then link objects to that height, like a “Height Tag”; then, if the height had to change, it would drag all the linked objects to that height. But that’s just wishful thinking…)

5d+ might do this with its “levels/storeys” functionality. I’m still learning about it so I can’t say for certain.

5D+ being the extension from LemonSqueezy? Is it just me, or do they not have any description of the extensions whatsoever?

The documentation and support for 5D+ is actually quite good. There is a link to it in the extension interface.

You could ask to have an extension modified or written that does this - say from a pull down menu.

I’ve modified a few to have default values so I don’t have to type anything…

Default values that can be set on a per-project basis? That would be exactly what I need!

I.e. “Ground Level” = 0’-0"
“Finished Floor” = 0’ - 1"
“Countertop Height” = 3’-0"

etc
