This development is a big deal for the BIM suite, I’m surprised its not getting more attention.
Currently the various plan view tabs are treated as their own “sheets” or pages. In other words if you print that tab you get exactly what is in the viewport scaled to fit into a regular sheet size (letter, 11x17, Arch C, Arch D). You cannot add in other geometry from other tabs. This seems to work reasonably well for most of these plan views (ie. Floor Plan, Foundation Plan, Roof Plan, Floor Framing Plan etc…)
However, when it comes to elevation views things typically get a bit more interesting. Some designers like to put multiple elevation views on one sheet and in some cases all four if they will fit ( I like to do this for small ADUs for example). So it is not as easy as assigning one elevation view to one sheet, or even assigning two elevation views to one sheet, there needs to be more flexibility.
After giving this some considerable thought I decided what I really needed was a Layout system where the user can drag the elevations into the “workspace” and position them as they see fit, and then at that point add their annotations and dimensions. I have now created four additional Layout tabs where the user can do exactly that.
The only major thing I feel like I am missing at this point is a sectional view or section tool.
Version 1.2.8 - 10.11.2026
- Added the “Draw House” tool to the Medeek Builder toolbar.
I’m releasing this update so that interested parties can test out the House Builder interface. It is currently not fully wired into the Medeek API so have temporarily disabled the “Create House” button. I will be spending the next week or two completely the upgrades to the Medeek API for the various mdkBIM extensions so that we can access API methods for floors, foundations, roofs etc…
The primary purpose of this update is to garner feedback on the UI and the front end. Please download and install this latest update and send any feedback directly to nathan@medeek.com. I will be very curious what everyone thinks of this new tool and I think you will find it is much more capable than the “prototype” Garage Builder".
I think I started working in earnest on the House Builder on Sept. 9, it is now Oct. 10th. I’ve spent just about one month putting together the front end of this thing. I will admit that I have used AI to help me code some but not all of the front end. For some of the more tedious parts (like SVG and DXF exporting) AI has been a real time saver and made certain things possible that I probably wouldn’t even want to attempt.
At the end of the day though the AI doesn’t really know what to do or how to organize things properly. It is definitely good at the nut and bolts type tasks but it is still very weak at the big picture stuff. Unless you provide it very clear and concise directions it will quickly go afoul. AI is only as good as the person who is orchestrating it I’ve determined.
If I had coded this all on my own it probably would have taken me about six months to complete what I just did in one month, so yeah, AI is a powerful tool.
P.S.
I left a section of test code in the main house builder ruby file so if you try to run the tool it will actually not work. My apologies. I am working on another update that fixes this oversight as well as enables metric for the Garage and House Builder tools.
Version 1.2.9 - 10.14.2026
- Fixed a critical bug with the (Draw House) House Builder tool.
- Added metric support for both the House Builder and the Garage Builder tools.
If you are using the Garage Builder in metric mode you will need to update the Wall, Truss and Foundation extensions to the latest versions I have just released.
If you try to use the previous versions of the plugins with the Garage Builder in metric mode it will create geometry that is corrupt and will probably cause SketchUp to bugsplat. Please uprade to the latest versions of these four plugins.
This update should have resolved the bug or flaw in the initial release of the House Builder. I am curious if anyone has tried out the new tool yet. A lot of work remains to be done but the core functionality has been added to the front end interface and most of the remaining work is the backend API calls to the plugins.
I forgot to add in the temporary or construction dimensions. Working on that now.

There is always something else, and when you code a completely new tool it usually takes a few weeks or months to sniff out all the bugs and put out all the fires.
I’m now focusing on some much needed API upgrades to all the mdkBIM plugins (Wall, Truss, Floor and Foundation), then I will complete the full integration within the House Builder, maybe then, and only then, will I be able to blow all you all’s socks off with this thing, we will see. ![]()
First look at some walls be generated by the House Builder. This is the easy part, next we need to add all the openings, and somehow make it very efficient.

Windows, Doors and Garage Doors are now being created in the walls.

Version 1.3.0 - 10.19.2026
- Wired up the Medeek API with the House Builder so that assemblies can be created with the following extensions: Wall, Truss, Foundation and Floor.
Note that in order for the House Builder to work correctly you will need to upgrade your Wall, Truss, Foundation and Floor extensions to the latest versions (also released on 10.19.2026).

Please try out this new tool and send me any feedback you may have, directly to nathan@medeek.com.
Note that you can toggle the grid snapping off however I still have it snapping to a fine grid (0.5"). I may make this fine grid even finer and user definable in the settings, per customer request.
Another thing I am considering is adding a couple additional tabs so that you can layout an electrical plan once you have your walls or floor plan populated. I’ve had a number of requests by electricians for a 2D electrical tool. The gears are already turning.
Radius (and Chamfer) Tool:

The trim tool is now functional:

Placing outlets is fairly straightforward.
