Materials used in my model are missing from the "In Model" materials tray

Materials used in my model are missing from the “In Model” materials tray.
This results in them disappearing when importing the file into Twinmotion.

Is this a known bug?

I’ve gone back to using Sketchup 2024… The materials downgrade is absolutely terrible.

You can use 2025 with the old materials. There are a few posts here how to do it, and you can turn off the auto upgrading of materials in the graphics preferences.

I’m using my custom materials, in the old squares in all my templates. I never see the new cubes unless I bring in a model from the warehouse that has the new materials, or I update them to show the metalness / etc.

This is 2024.. I have not installed 2025 yet

I have seen the temporary disappearance of materials with SU2024 on Mac, not sure if it’s the same thing on Windows. A workaround, depending on what you are doing, you can use CMD** with the Paint Tool active to allow you to pick materials from the rest of the model, so having the Material Browser display the material isn’t always necessary.

** Sorry, I don’t know the Windows equivalent.

Save.
Close SKP.
Launch SKP.

Did they reappear?

If not, perhaps launch the SKP installer and repair. Make sure to do it ‘As administrator’

Same. Save, quit, reopen usually fixes it.

Yeah, bugs on both os with su24

On pc, something to do with QT, sometimes post purge the material / style panel wouldn’t update, showing stuff that had been purged. I don’t remember if it worked the other way around too.

On pc, if you copy something with the material panel open, when you paste it, its material disappears. It’s still technically here but not visible.

I’m not anywhere near a mac but I think it got fixed in 25
