Making a tube reducer

Thank you so much for the guidance. Here is what I came up with. Is there any way to more reduce the flat planes that translate into the slicer? A smoother exterior?

Yes. You can do that by using a larger number of sides in the circle you draw for the path. Modeling in meters allows that because it avoids the tiny face issue. I find that 96 sides is usually plenty for most 3D printed stuff and I almost always use some multiple of 12.

From left to right, a default 24-sided circle for the the Follow Me path, 48 sides in the middle and 96 on the right.

And the same three objects in the slicer.

I regularly model things with screw threads and 96 sides is enough to get smooth running threads. This is a 1/2-13 screw and nut sample I printed from a SketchUp model.

Dave, You are the reason I love the internet. Thanks so much for your help. Endless search has resulted in lots of comments and people suggesting other programs and other ideas when this way just works. Thanks again now to get my dust collector hooked up. I could pick you brain all day about modeling screws on sketchup as well something I have not done. Model image attached at 96 sides. Now I will print and see. Thanks again for picking up a 3 year old post so quickly.

I’m happy I could help. Good luck with your print. Maybe you can come back and show the results when it’s finished. Folks like to see real objects made from SketchUp models.

FWIW, accurate screw threads aren’t terribly difficult to model but they are much easier in the desktop version with the aid of some extensions. Here are some other examples.

Can someone help me with making a tube reducer going from 33mm inside (about 3 cm long) to 6mm outside (about 10 cm long). The reducing part doesn’t really matter how long it is.

Show us what you have tried so far, upload the model please.

Is this what you are after? What I.D. are you expecting for the narrow part?

As @Wo3Dan asked, show us what you’ve got so we can help you model it.
