Make unique texture just turns blue

I am trying make unique texture in the free version.

I import the image onto a rectangle I created fresh.

Then I use “texture position” without fixed pins to set it as I want.

When I right click and select ‘make unique texture’ it just turns blue. Sampling the texture and painting it just goes black,.

Am a bit stumped.

Using Chrome, Windows 10. It its a small jpeg, but have also tried .png.

I can replicate the ‘blue’ issue, but the sampled materials show the transparent areas as white, not black…

seems to be a bug…
