MacOS and Toolbars not retaining settings

Looks like there was an interesting discussion on the subject here:

does it depend on the state when it’s called? # during runtime :show # will open a closed toolbar :restore # will never open a closed toolbar john

It appears there is a bug in the windows version such that the show command behaves differently than on a Mac.
