Lost File due to Glitch in Sketchup Online App

I recently signed up for a free trial to design my kitchen remodel and I spent over 6 hours working on a file in the sketchup online app and saved it many times throughout the day. Eventually it started giving me an error saying the file could not be saved. I tried exporting, downloading, copying and pasting the objects to a new file, opening the file from another browser window. All failed. Having closed the browser window where the last instance of the file was working, when I try to open that file from my trimble files, it says “this does not appear to be a sketchup model”!?!?!? this was the only file in my online trimble file folder. this is my first time trying sketchup. is this nonsense to be expected with the online app? can anything be done? will trimble support help me in any way? what a nightmare!

If you’re using the free web version you have most likely have exceeded the maximum file size.

You could download the .skp file to your computer and share it here so that we can see if there’s any chance of saving it.

If you log into your Trimble Connect account you may find an earlier version of the file you can open.

I failed to notice this before, but luckily Sketchup keeps a running history of all the saves for each file, so I was able to see, open and recover my work. For anyone who might not know, go to the online app’s Home screen, click the 3 dots on the corrupted file, select History, and then you will see a list of all the instances of the file you saved.
