Logitech MX Master 4 Action Ring compatibility

Hello all;

Has anyone used the new Logitech MX Master 4 mouse. I’m wondering if you can add common SU tools to the Action Ring? It looks pretty handy.

Action Ring is also available for MX Master 3 (perhaps for other Logitech mouse too).
You can assign keyboard shortcut to any icon, therefore any command you can assign a shortcut in SU, can be added to Action Ring.
I do not use it because a keyboard shortcut is faster :wink: , and I did not find any plugin for SU yet or other way (like in 3DxWare) to configure (although I haven’t spent much time with it yet).

Perfect, thank you. I did just read on their site that it’s compatible with the Master 3 as you mentioned. Therefore I don’t think Im going to get the 4, I just wanted to try and use the on-screen option. Thank you!

Hello dezmo,

I am an old geezer using SketchUp pro (poorly) for years. The switches (fixed a couple of times) on my years-old Performance MX got so bad, it is beyond repair. I bought the MX Master 4, and I like the concept of it and it works smoothly and well in the unrefined as-delivered mode.

I could not understand how to add SketchUp to the Productivity applications and thereafter assign SketchUp actions to the extra buttons. A long chat with the Logitech AI and much later with a human was unproductive for me.

When and if you have the time, will you please respond with a dummy-level tutorial on how to start SketchUp with the productivity wheel and program anything, like the “X” keyboard shortcut? I suspect that I’ll get the hang of it and can then expand.

The mouse itself is really nice and I suspect others may benefit.

Thanks

Hey MakinIt;

Fellow old geezer here, I use the MX Master 3, but it has the same functionality as far as the Action Ring goes that the 4 does. I’m busy this a.m. but I will record a step by step on how I set it up a little later.

Here are the steps I used to set this up on my MacBook Pro. I don’t know if the images will be the same on Windows but they should be or at least close.

  1. Launch the Logitech LogiOptions + app that installed with your MX Mouse

  2. You should see this, click the Action Ring indicated by the “red” arrow in my screen shot

  3. Click Customize Ring:

  4. On the next screen click the Ring icon on the upper left and choose “Add Profile” - in the image below you’re seeing the one I’ve already setup for SketchUp, just click + ADD PROFILE to start yours

  5. On the next screen click “START WITH A BLANK PROFILE”

  6. On next screen, first click any of the “+” icons next to Add Action, then click Keyboard Shortcut on the right side

  7. On next screen, first type the desired key stroke or keystrokes you want, second: add a name, third: click Save

  8. In this image I’ve hit the Space bar for the Keystroke and then entered “Select” for what SU does when I click this action

  9. Repeat for the other keystrokes you want.

  10. Now you’ve got the Action Ring setup the way you want it, to call it up on your screen to use, go back the main LogiOptions page and click the image of the mouse

  11. First click the “+” on the upper right and choose SketchUp from the applications list. If you don’t see SketchUp, scroll to the bottom and select “Add Other Application” that will let you browse in Windows Explorer and select SU. Then Click the button on the image that you want to assign to the Actions Ring, then select Actions Ring on the right side.

That should do it, if you have any problems or questions please let me know.
