My computer has been self crashing lately over night. I go in the morning to continue on some plans and find the computer has restarted during the night but my 2018 LO has not auto saved. So I have to redo all the unsaved work. Is there a setting for autosave that I need to turn on? I went to bed at midnight, but the last saved copy of LO was at 10:30 am and for SU was 11:24 pm

Look under Preferences>Backup.
Since you know this happens, save the file before you walk away from the computer.
It was set for every 5 min, but obviously that isn’t happening. What do I need to do to fix that? I have been saving manually off and on so that’s weird.
If I remember correctly it’s every five minutes while you’re working in LayOut. If LayOut is idle it won’t continue auto saving. There’s nothing you can do to fix it except improve your work flow.
Maybe be more deliberate about saving the file before you leave the computer. Since you also know that your computer has been “self-crashing” overnight, it would make sense to save the files you’ve been working on and close the applications. You should investigate why it is “self-crashing” and fix that. Your computer shouldn’t be doing that. Also pay attention to what nights this occurs. It could be that you are just getting an automatic Windows update in the middle of the night. They will restart your computer. That often happens mid-week a couple of times a month on my computer. I just assume Wednesday or Thursday morning I will find my computer has rebooted after a Windows update.
I guess you could also turn off automatic updates of Windows to at least prevent Windows from restarting your machine.
That auto update explains a lot about what is going on. I was thinking I need to get a new computer. Thanks - I’ll just have to not leave anything unsaved before going to bed. I’ll research it a bit on line to find more about it.
