Liserok Visibility Manager [Multi-Tagging] - Beta Testing

I will respond to your message, I am under deadline so don’t want to properly test until my workload is a bit better… but I am interested.

And I can load 2024 to see if that works too. Just had to modify the OS to be compatible with SketchUp requirements. One thing I have noticed. I really like the ability to use the arrow icon to select a marker set. And it allows for add to selection or remove from selection by toggle clicking without modify keys. Nice feature. It would be nice to have a “deselect all” option. Currently we can click outside the objects in empty space to end the selection, but an “all” toggle would be helpful. Other idea is regarding the apply marker checkbox: it has no warning or “confirm to commit” option. While toggling selections I accidentally clicked the apply marker check box and my markers were transferred inadvertently (as the plugin is expected to). I think a tooltip when hovering that reads “apply marker change” or a secondary “confirm marker change” pop up would be beneficial.

edit: just found there is a tooltip. I had to hover a bit longer, but there is the message to “Assign/unassign selected objects to this marker” nice, suggest having a pop up after clicking the check box to confirm if change is desired, may be helpful.

Confirmed on MacOS Monterey 12.7.6 with SketchUp 2024 (24.0.598) using beta 10

Hello, I would like to join as a beta tester. Thank you!

…I’m in the same boat — no time to experiment right now.

Hi, I’ll send you a private message later when I’m back at my computer.

“Assign/unassign selected objects to this marker”

That’s a good observation with the risk that a person will accidentally click on the wrong markers, but I don’t know if I want to add the pop-up confirmation there. I would only do that if it’s a really frequent problem. The same thing can happen when someone assigns native tags and accidentally clicks on the wrong tag.

I would rather solve it by, for example, changing the position of the selectors before the name, so that it will be close to the eye for turning the marker on/off. If a person clicks over and accidentally turns off the marker instead of selecting it, no tragedy happens, because they simply turn it back on and press the select button again. So there is a much smaller risk that they will unnecessarily choose a model.

What do you think about that?

Or I can think about the checkbox to be confirmed, but it would probably be appropriate for it to be an option somewhere in the settings, because it wouldn’t suit me, for example.

Look on screenshot:

That is a cleaver solution. I wasnt sure of the best way to manage it. But moving the select icon near the view icon makes sense - grouping the view options . And have the change option isolated. Good call. And a compromise on the warning: what about a first time pop up to confirm they want to apply the marker, and add a “don’t show this message again” option on that pop up. Also add the warning dialog to a “reset warnings” option in the settings menu. So if the user is running into this issue they can turn the warning back on.

@mark.perrah I uploaded the current beta 12 version to the beta testers link. You’ve already changed the order of those buttons. It’ll really be better this way. Thanks again for the good comment.

I haven’t changed other things in the interface yet according to what you described, so just try the change first.

In this version, I fixed several bugs at the core of the plugin and fine-tuned AND/ANY automatic synchronization with Scenes, so it’s not just about the appearance. So if you encounter any bugs or unexpected behavior that I haven’t caught yet, let me know

This is great. I noticed you added functionality in setting to let us click the Marker name to Hide/Show like you had it originally - I like this. A small thing, and it may be by design, but the VM info window alpha sorts the markers. Can they keep the Marker Group order, and then only sort at the marker level? For example I have Row Column Pallet and Instance for my groups, and I would like the info to always be in that sort order (Instance on the bottom). But my instance names have first letters all over the place and they show up in the list sorted in with the other Marker Groups.

If i turn on view for Categories this is more like I would like, but I dont need the Group names showing. This extension is really coming along. Doing great work. I just noticed you added autodetect model model data. This I will try today. Thank you!

Attempted to install on a 2011 Mac book pro running OS Monterey 12.7.6 and Sketchup 2024. The install looks complete, but attempting to activate the dialog it hangs at “checking”. I realized this is the fourth machine I was testing on, So I deactivated the Mac mini license, but after a reboot and uninstall/reinstall the activation still hangs at “checking”. This could be a result of the number of machines or this particular OS combination. the plug-in did previously work on the 2012 Mac mini running OS Monterey and 2024 sketch, - so my guess is I exceeded my number of license seats for the plug in, and deactivating one did not work to allow for a “3rd” machine (this was the 4rth before the de-activation of number 3)

The limit is on Beta is set to 3 computers. I’ll write info in the message. It must have really gone wrong on that very old version of the OS.

Thats what I tried on the 3rd machine, then going back to 4rth it just hangs on “checking”. I will try to deactivate the 1st or second machine and try again tomorrow. but for now it would appear after 3 devices are active, and a 4rth is attempted, it will not activate. and at least deactivating from a mac did not fix it. I will try the pc version tomorrow to deactivate

OK, let me know if it works. The system shouldn’t allow more than 3 computers. But maybe you got stuck on the old OS system that we were working on together recently and it’s stuck there somehow. Let me know what worked for you and what didn’t and we’ll get back to you via private messages.

@RTCool I hope you can find some time soon, as I plan to continue this beta testing for a while. It’s great to have feedback, and we’ve been able to improve a lot of things together over the past week.

@bmike Sure, I’m also going to work on our projects in the studio for a while and take a break from improving the plugin

New improvements in Beta 14:

  • Focused primarily on improving the automatic synchronization between scenes and markers to make the workflow feel more natural.

  • Minor readability improvements for some skins.

  • Added “Open on Startup” to Global Settings to improve reliability across different SketchUp versions:

It just does not seem to like the 2011 Mac Book Pro. It is a customized version of the OS (OpenCore Legacy Patch for Monterey) but SketchUp is correct for the version and authorized license. I suppose we can at least add this machine to the “not compatible list” 2012 and newer seems to be the cut off. - beta 14 is running fine on my main windows11 laptop in SketchUp 2026 (latest). I like the new added “Modal” skin. I will try it out on my large 5 building facility model today.

Would it be possible to add nested marker groups. For example my facility has several buildings, each with pipes, tanks, valves, pumps (its a chemical plant) I want to have a Marker for all pipe, then a sub group for each building pipes. Or I could have a main group for each building then sub groups for each equipment type listed above. I tried to drag and drop a group “into” another group but it only moves it above or below, not into another group..

I didn’t consider nesting when I initially planned the purpose of the plugin. But I’ve also thought about it. I just don’t know yet how the AND/ANY system would work in that, so that it wouldn’t be completely overcomplicated.
