Leader text in sketchup not displaying correctly in layout

I’ve updated the video card driver, toggled between the new and old graphic engines to no avail. The text will display when set in raster mode, but it looks like a raster when exporting to a pdf. In vector or hybrid modes, the text show extremely small and not legible. Also, the exported pdf is corrupt and cannot be opened when the scene is set to vector or hybrid mode.

Older versions use to display the text and export flawlessly. I’m wondering why it isn’t working anymore. Thoughts?

This is with SketchUp/LayOut 2023?

I just tested in SketchUp/LayOut 2026 and it seems to work fine for me.

Interesting, I’m using 2026, need to update the profile. Any ideas why it wouldn’t be working on my end?

Not sure. Maybe you could share a sample file that illustrates the issue. We can try it on other machines and see what happens.

TBH, I do all my labeling in LayOut because it’s so much easier to work with gives much better results than adding leader text in SketchUp.

Thanks for taking a look at this… sketchup and layout files attached along with a screen shot of what the layout export to a jpg looks like.

I see there’s missing text in yours however I didn’t have the same experience when I set up a model with leader text. I can’t find a difference though. Maybe @adam would have some input.

I’m curious about the workflow, though. Seems like these would be easier made in LO in the first place and either added to your template or made into scrapbook entities that can be dragged into your LO doc when you need it. Don’t get me wrong, though. The leader text should show in the viewports

While I was off working on something else I had the thought that make this is a clipping issue. I switched to the Front Standard view in your model and I see some of the labels in front of the plane of the gid and some behind.

Adam might have some insight if he has time to check in.

The text is showing in the vector and hybrid, its just very small and gets clipped as you zoom out. In raster mode, it works as intended.

Regarding the work flow, I like to keep all drafting in sketchup. I can copy these components around in the model. The label stays with them minimizing extra work in layout. Probably a throw back to my day working in cad. I do label in layout as well, but this is much quicker for me.

Could you verify that you can export to a pdf from the layout file? When I try, the pdf is corrupt. Once I turn the scene that has the components on it the pdf creates as usual.

If you’re not seeing the same issues on your end, makes me think its something on mine. Could it be a hardware issue?

I couldn’t see the text in the vector viewport even zoomed way in. I edited one of your labels and made it 64 points high.

And I had to increase the scale of the vector viewport to get the text to appear.

For years LayOut it’s been difficult to work with text from SketchUp in LayOut. I haven’t seen it this different before, though.

Adobe Reader won’t open after exporting the PDF.

I’m not sure what you mean byt that. You can’t turn scenes on or off.

Alright. I think you could have a better, more predicatble work flow using labels in LayOut but I know not everyone is open to changing their workflows so I’ll drop that.

Let’s wait to see if Adam has time to have a look at your file. Hard to say what his schedule is like today and the rest of the week due to the holiday coming.
