I have this crazy issue I seem not to be able to resolve… long time user… with an old 2016 system…
but I am stuck… I am working on a small project and my Text in layout has reverted to some asian character texts… and I seem not to be able to get out of it…
I start typing and a selection menu comes up… that I have never seen before… and selections I do not want… I seem not to be able to figure out how this happened or how to resolve it…
your insight or help is much appreciated … thanks in advance

What operating system are you using? Please complete your profile.
What selection menu? Post a screen shot so we can see what you are seeing. LayOut doesn’t naturally pop up a selection menu when you start typing into a text field.
With so little information in your first post it’s next to impossible to tell you how to resolve it.
there was a mac LO bug for people when they updated from El Capitan to macOS…
to fix the changes made by Apple you needed to rollback macOS or upgrade SU…
fill in your profile, I only vaguely remembered you use mac’s…
