Layout startup problem

When I try to open layout it is opening dozens of historic files many causing an error message window to open.
This started yesterday and the product is unusable.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled SketchUp 2019 but the problem persists.
I don’t know what to do. Help!
Is there a way of clearing the Layout history?
Any ideas?

So what changed on your computer yesterday? SU/LO2019 hasn’t changed in nearly two years.

Check in Preferences>Startup. What is selected in the Startup section?

When you installed/reinstalled SketchUp did you right click on the downloaded installer and choose Run as administrator or did you just double click on it?

The same thing has been happening to me for the past week. Very annoying and time consuming!
I found the answer WEIRDLY BURIED in Edit/Preferences/Startup. Changed the Startup selection from Reopen files to Show Welcome Window.

So same thing I showed?

Thanks everyone, changing the preferences fixed the problem, but it’s buried so deep in the menus that I have no idea how it got changed.
