I have created a D sized drawing in Layout. I want to be able to scale this drawing down to print on 8.5x11 sheet of paper for proofing. However, every time I try to print, I get the error that I need to “scale to fit” which is checked but it will not print. Screen shot attached for example.
Also, if I try to save to PDF, I get the same “Invalid Paper Size” message as above so I can neither print or send to PDF.
What happens if you export the PDF at the original size and then open that in your PDF viewer and scale it to fit the letter sized sheet?
LO won’t let me export to PDF. It gives me the same error message. The only way I have found to get it to work is to set my page with Page Setup to “Letter” within LO. But, now, I am working in a letter page. If I wanted to take this to a print shop to print at D-size, it would be all off.
Try this:
Start a new blank LO document and in Document Setup>Paper set your desired paper size. Draw a rectangle on the page just to have some content. Then use File>Export and export a PDF. Does that work?
Share the LO file so we can see how you’ve got it set up.
Don’t use Page Setup to choose the paper size for your document. That must be done in Document Setup>Paper.
Okay, I guess I misunderstood how LO operates. It appears you have to have the ability to print the paper size you specify in Page Setup in LO. I have created a new document as you have suggested, set the paper size to D (34" x 22") in Document Setup and successfully exported to a PDF via the File>Export function.
Thank you for your help.
As with other application the paper sizes available in Page Setup come from your printer.
Sounds like you’re good to go now.
