Layout isn't opening my pdf file

I just recently started using layout and this should be pretty straight forward but for some reason when I’m trying to insert a pdf it’s not working. I have it saved as an Adobe pdf from illustrator but it’s opening in layout. Any thoughts? Am I missing something?

Look at the insertable file types under File>Insert. PDF is not one of them.

You can export PDFs from LayOut but it isn’t intended to open them.

When you look on SketchUp’s website though it says you should be able to
insert a pdf

You can insert PDF into Layout only if you are on Mac.

As @jespizua, wrote, that is an import option for Mac but not Windows.

Very odd isn’t it?

I am an Architect and long time mac sketchup user. I often need to insert .pdf documents (title-24 compliance, Cal Green checklists, specific product details etc.) into my drawing sets. This has never been a problem for me in the past. I am now working in a mixed platform office and am discovering that collegues working in a windows environment can’t view or plot sheets with .pdfs on them. Is there a reasonable workaround for this?

Open them in photoshop or equivalent and convert them to JPEG. I’ve done this for years with no issues.

PDF working for Macs is a feature of apple operating systems which is why SU can utilize that feature in LO.
