Why is something so simple so difficult?
I need to get a bunch of plans to scale with no issues or missing details) onto sketchup layout?
I have read that PC cant and MAC can…but surely not…it is 2026 right?
What is my work around please?

Insert the PDF as an image in LO, group the image, add scale to group, double click to edit scaled drawing, use scale tool to apply accurate dimension.
Thanks, how would I bring a PDF in as an image?
What version of SketchUp and LayOut are you using? Your profile indicates you are using the free SketchUp 2016 Make which doesn’t give you access to LayOut.
Does the PDF you want to insert have vector linework?
Ah I must have signed in on an old Forum login! I am using sketchup pro and layout 2024
I dont know exactly - It should be -it is from a cabinetry package and exports DXF
Update your forum profile.
What difference does that make if you are using 2024? Why haven’t you updated to the current version?
And what about my question regarding the PDF?
In 2026 can I import a PDF?
Not yet.
I have a possible solution but since you are not answering my question, nevermind …
Actually sorry I am using 2025 now, just havent updated to 2026. I dont like to update straight away as I had glitches with my cabinetry software when I update too soon
haha not sure what info you want? Why I havent updated to 2026? or Does the PDF you want to insert have vector linework? - which the answer is I dont know…
SketchUp doesn’t extract vectors from PDFs - get the original linework from the draftsperson or use an external tool to extract them.
This and you answered it at least to say you don’t know.
If it has vector linework you can use a program like Inkscape to create a dxf file which can be inserted into LayOut.
I drew it using Mozaik software and then used the multiprint. I have tried exporting the dxf both via the export function and creating the pdf but there is an issue with the way its exporting as a dxf so I am trying to utilise the PDF version…so here lies the problem.
A high-quality screenshot works for me most of the time. Or save your PDF as an image using any pdf converter of your choice.
I tried using Affinity to export as an SVG (DXF and DWG didnt work)
Is this the same as what you are saying?
It’s not exactly the same. Why didn’t the dxf export work?
Maybe you could share the PDF?
Room1Elevation1_1.dxf (1.1 MB)
PDF of Elevation.pdf (541.5 KB)
This is how it comes out in Layout (via DXF)
That looks ok. What are you expecting?
Just for fun I imported your DXF into SketchUp and did some cleanup including getting rid of the dimension lines and fixing incorrect tag usage. Then I created a scene and saved the model which I inserted into LO where I set the scale. Dimensions are added in LO. Labels would be done in LO, too.
Do you already have a 3D model of this kitchen made in SketchUp?
Yep, we create the model and input it into the base model for all joinery
Then we use the model for the main documentation but when detailing joinery we need more accurate lines to snap to for easier dimensioning and the drawings of mozaik provide better documentation rather than doing a lot of manual override. Especially when we have some projects that are 65+ pages in layout. We are hoping for less ajdustments needing to be made
I would prefer to use the automated dimensions all done by mozaik so nothing gets missed - As they are automatic in there
So why do you need the 2D CAD drawing to insert into LayOut. If your 3D model is created accurately and with precision you can create the same elevation view from the SketchUp model and easily snap dimensions to it. Having a 3D model and your 2D CAD drawing increases the chances of user induced errors.
