If you want to use LayOut’s fill patterns or colors you’ll need LayOut drawing elements. You can trace the SketchUp model to make shapes in LO that can be filled or you can render the viewport as Vector and then explode the viewport which will convert it to LayOut drawing elements. From there you can join the lines to create closed shapes which can be given fills.
You could also just apply your hatching in the SketchUp model instead. If the model is prone to change, that would be the simplest option.
Perhaps you should go through the LayOut tutorials at laern.sketchup.com
Basically you’d just get the Line tool in LayOut and trace over the viewport after you’ve got it set to the correct size.
You can add your own materials to SketchUp. You can even import the hatch materials from LayOut if you want to use them. They live in ProgramData/SketchUp/SketchUp202x/LayOut/Pattern Fills.
I assumed so, but it was somehow too primitive. I hoped that I don’t know something and there is a more elegant method.
In any case, I am very grateful to you for the answers.
If there are no other options, then I will trace the contours. What tool is better to use for ?-like elements?
I don’t know that it’s more elegant but exploding the vector-rendered viewport might give you the shapes you need but it depends on how your SketchUp model is made. Exploding the viewport might actually create more work for you than just tracing with the Line tool.
What does this mean? What are you actually asking?
What was meant was the outline of the model elements that look like a question mark in the picture. Which tool in Layout do you think is best for this?
If you thoughtfully modeled this in SKP you can render as Vector in LO and then explode the viewport (as @DaveR mentioned) - this would be the way I would do it. And I would be clever with my groups, tags and scenes in SKP to make it easier to manage in LO.
I am not such an expert in Sketchup that this hint would be enough for me. If possible, could you go into a little more detail so that I can further study this issue later?
I studied layout-essentials and the video How to Use VECTOR, RASTER, and HYBRID Rendering in Layout with great interest!
But I couldn’t find an answer to the question “How to render as Vector in LO and then explode the viewport”. I don’t have Explode, even though I did vector rendering. There is only Disconnect, but it doesn’t help
