I’m trying to import an .xls file into layout and it’s showing as greyed out in the insert window. Only .csv files seem to be an option. Is this a known issue?
thanks @DaveR alas that insertable file formats drop down does not appear on the Mac version and yes looks like .xlsx works but not .xls

Can you open the file in Excel and use the save as function to save it to xlsx?
Or try simply changing the file extension to xlxs. Try it on a copy of the file first in case something goes south.
I believe what he means is that unlike the PC UI, on mac we don’t have the drop down list so there is no way to know what file format are compatible. it acts as the “insertable content” one.

that’s the simplest way, excel hasn’t used XLS for 20+ years.
