LayOut 2026 Crashes Immediately on DWG Export

Full System Specs:

  • OS: Windows 11 [add your build if known]

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-14900KF (usage ~64% during crash)

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 (8GB VRAM, driver [check NVIDIA Control Panel for version], usage 2-7%, temp 48-64°C)

  • RAM: 64GB total (48GB used, 16GB free during crash)

  • LayOut Versions: 2026 vs 2024

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open .layout file (complex with viewports/layers).

  2. File > Export > 2D Graphic > DWG.

  3. Settings: DWG 2018, Vector mode, no SketchUp entities/labels.

  4. Click Export → Immediate crash (no BugSplat dialog sometimes).

What I’ve Tried (Still Crashes):

  • Latest NVIDIA Game Ready/Studio drivers (clean install via DDU).

  • Disabled hardware acceleration in LayOut preferences.

  • Tested blank new document → Crashes too.

  • Different DWG versions (2010), raster mode → All fail.

  • Clean reinstall LayOut 2026 (no extensions/plugins).

  • Works 100% in LayOut 2024 identical workflow.

Likely DWG exporter bug in 2026, possibly RTX 50-series driver incompatibility. Workarounds? Dev ETA on fix? Can test patches.

Thanks for help!

Hi Ewing,

This is Brant from the LayOut team. A question about your DWG export crash: are any of your SketchUp tags named using special characters? If so, try removing these characters and exporting to DWG (after saving your SketchUp file and updating your LayOut viewport).

If you are comfortable doing so, you can share your LayOut file with me. I would like to look into this more.
