Layout 2025 viewport copy paste function not working

Hello, I’m not able to use the copy past function for viewports in Layout. I use MacOS Sequoia Version 15.5.
I understand there is bug report LO-15651 for this issue. @trent, @Barry do you have any updates on this fix?

In the example LayOut file for that bug report, it was possible to open the viewport in SketchUp, go into Window, Model Info, Statistics, Purge Unused. Then do a Save, and go back to LayOut. After do those things the viewport would copy and paste ok.

You could see if the same steps work in your case.

It doesn’t make any sense that purging unused should fix things, and I do want to try and track down what exactly gets purged that then fixes the issue.

Hi Colin, thank you. However, I don’t want to use the purge function through the Model Info since it will delete all of my unused tags and styles. I use my tags and styles as a template for all of my files as they are imperative to the types of reports I produce. I do use a purge extension, which gives me the option of not purging my styles and tags.
Are you aware of any progress on the fix for this problem?

You can purge unused components and materials just by going to their respective panels, which is likely what is causing an issue of file bloat, assuming that is what is causing the issue. Purge components first, then materials.

Good morning Mike, thank you for assisting me. I use a MacOS, and don’t think I can manage the respective panels in the way you suggest? I have purged the materials and components by using an extension and although my file is quite large, I think that it is clean.

I am also on MacOS.
You can:

awesome, yes thank you. I guess I didn’t see it because it was greyed out and already purged.

Mike, have you recently tried to copy and paste a viewport on a different page in Layout?
I just get a paste of a large picture of the scene, which is not a viewport. I then have to purge the clipboard image from my references.
Also, if I copy multiple items on a page in Layout, there is nothing copied to the clipboard and no past function is available.

I copied several yesterday. I will try again today when I get to that stage with my current drawings.

I’m not in Sequoia though…

Sorry for the slow reply, we were working on this issue.

It looks like the problem is unused environments. Showing the in model environments, and only purging the unused ones (and saving) makes the copy and paste work ok in LayOut. No need to purge any other unused things in the SKP.

Yay :clap:t3:, it fixed the problem! Thank you Colin. I was experimenting with the environments and creating some amazing photorealistic scenes, After purging the environments, it left me with the 4 environments that displayed the most realistic colours that I needed.
Cheers,
Diane
