I’m having problems with Scrapbooks. LayOut collapses as soon as I remove an item. Why is this happening? I’ve never had this issue before and I’ve been using the template for a year.
What do you mean by “remove an item”? What kind of item and from where are you removing it?
When I take an item from Scrapbooks and place it on my workspace, LayOut freezes and then closes.
Where is the LayOut project file saved?
On my NAS
I expect that is the reason. Save the LayOut file to the internal drive and then try inserting the scrapbook object.
It’s not a good idea to work on files that are saved directly to an external location like a network drive or the cloud. There have been many cases in which users have wound up with fatally corrupted SketchUp and LayOut files because something failed during a save or an auto save.

It doesn’t work on my desktop either.
That’s the scrapbook file? Are you wanting it to come into your document as a single object?
Yes, I used to be able to drag the symbols out.
It works for me although some of the symblols have been exploded so only a part of them will come in. Looks like you need to go in and make groups for some of the symbols.
Are you saving your scrapbooks to the NAS, too?
They used to be grouped, but when I try to select the top one, everything freezes. I do indeed always work from my NAS.
Do I have to redo everything? I also can’t copy it onto a new sheet. As soon as I click anything, everything freezes. Or can I select and copy everything using my keyboard
I have to say that I encounter such problems every now and then. And they disappear just as suddenly as they appear. But I can never find the exact problem. Could it be due to underlying updates?
As I already wrote, that’s not good.
I wonder when they got ungrouped.
Try copying the file you shared to your local internal drive and see if it works better for you. I would anticipate that you could go through and remake the groups. Also, go to the Nvidia site and get their latest graphics drivers to install. Then do a cold reboot of your computer.
I expect it can all be traced to working directly from your NAS.
FWIW, I would suggest splitting those long columns of symbols into shorter ones and making the paper size for the scrapbook page fit them tightly. That will allow your symbols to appear larger and easier to read in the Scrapbooks panel.
I went thought and made the groups. I also rearranged things so the symbols will be slightly larger.
Save this as a template into LayOut’s default location (not your NAS) and see if it behaves better for you.

Thank you so much for helping me. Unfortunately, it’s still not working. I can remove the symbol, but as soon as I try to edit it or select it again, LayOut closes. In the meantime, I’ve reinstalled my graphics card driver — it had just been updated — and I’ve reinstalled SketchUp. I’m now also working from my desktop instead of the NAS. The problem remains. I’m afraid I’ll have to recreate it.
