Jack Plane Grain Pattern

I just started to model a wood Jack Plane, made a blank that I will cut into pieces to be glued together sandwich (Krenov) style. I wanted to illustrate the desired grain pattern on one end. How do I make the lines lighter than the other lines and sketchy. I’ve seen some other comments, but they were different. I don’t want to change the style of the whole model. I just want to make the grain pattern lines on one end of the blank lighter and sketchy.

If I were doing that sort of thing I would use a texture instead of drawing in the materials as you’ve done.

Think about how the it should all work with the material.
