Issues with dimension center lines not staying in place when model is updated?

We got the work finished using this method - it’s more time consuming, but at this point, I’ll take anything to get the work done. I realized too that once the dimensions are created, if I need to make a new one, I just copy one I have already created and stretch it between the new endpoints, the text adjusts to the new length and I don’t accidentally draw it on the wrong layer that way.

I can’t say I’m happy about all this, but definitely relieved! Thank you!

Well… I’m still using Mojave. I’ve been holding onto my adobe CS6 and Cinema 4D. I’m waiting for an M4 studio or 27" imac pro but it seems to be far in the future(thanks apple for supporting your professional users). When I do upgrade it’s going to be painfully $$$$ losing my legacy software.

I feel this! @nate2 @dsiro @tespenschied @Sundog6427 @randy2 It seems like a lot of us who are having problems love SketchUp/Layout and have built great businesses around it and don’t like being the person expressing frustration. Especially when it falls on deaf ears, all while SketchUp keeps developing more and more “extras”. I know there are a lot of demands from users, but the “new” seems to be the enemy of the “stable” which ultimately wont work for anyone.

I have avoided posting because the blame for the problem often seems to be shifted to how the OP is using the software or other outside issues. In the end, the solution always seems to be US having to find workarounds and adapt our long developed workflows instead of feeling heard by SketchUp and given a stable reliable toolset.

This time I was sure we weren’t creating the problem so it helped to post. And if this is the way working with SketchUp is going to be, I hope you found some workarounds you can use too!

You communicate very clearly and thoroughly, and with no trace of being rude or cold. Your colleagues are lucky to have you!

My images and text shift a bit with the new graphics engine, which I have off at the moment. Maybe this is what b-skeel is experiencing.

Not sure if it’s related but this reminds me, occasionally, but not always, when I click to edit a piece of text, as soon as I type any character, Layout switches me to a completely different page! It’s maddening when it happens (fortunately not often) and I have to shut down and quit program (and maybe restart my computer?) to get it to stop. There’s definitely something funky going on with normal functions.

I replied about this before but perhaps you missed it - there is an issue with the Pages pallet on Mac - something triggers it and it refuses to give focus back to the text box and assumes a number entry means you want to jump pages.

I suggested rolling up the Pages pallet as it usually helps…

This is a known bug with the experimental engine - export and it should be fine. Certainly maddening for perfectionists when expecting WYSIWYG, I’ve gotten used to it and work with it for dimensioning / etc. and switch back to double check…
