Is there a way to find decent materials in sketchup 2025? I go to the warehouse and type in birch plywood wich is the most common plywood cabinets are built with and there are no results. I used to be able to find it easily and used it all the time now there are only a few different wood materials and they are terrible.
searches will show you PBR materials by default. but if you then open the filer panel (top right button), and scroll at the bottom (left side of your screen) you can ask for the old materials (extracted from the models themselves)
Are you logged into 3D Warehouse? Do you have a current subscription? Are you looking in Libraries?
this is awesome! Thank you for your help!
Yes I am logged in and have current subscription.
Turning on old materials in filters did the trick.
Thank you for your reply.
You can also make your own materials. I use images of full size sheets of plywood or long boards to make my own wood materials.
the “old” results are simply extracted from all the files in the warehouse.
so if you look for plywood, and I upload a model with a photo of a horse as material (and the horse material is named plywood) you would see the horse material called plywood in the results.
it was a true 3d warehouse experience
the new system allows users to upload materials independently, reducing the risk of bad photos and mislabelled materials.
also, check out architexture. free extension, good stuff in there.
Will do. Thank you for the advice!
If I ever own a horse, I am naming it Plywood.
have you ever watched horse races ? or any horse competition (every 4 years, the olympics?)
plywood would not be the weirdest name by far
