I am considering subscribing to SketchUp Pro on a monthly basis for several months and then cancelling my subscription. If I do this, will I be able to access any files I create in the SketchUp free after I cancel my subscription?

Yes you will presuming you are using it for personal, non-commercial use.
just realized I left this hanging, Thank you for your comment. I am now trialing the desktop version with the plan of using it for a few months this year. I am finding that there are a lot of new things and ways of doing things (since 2016 pro).
