using su 24 on Mac, the inference lock is no longer working when I want to draw on a certain axis
Can you share an example file where this doesn’t work?
thanks for responding so quickly Dave. Somehow, the issue went away!!! Don’t know why but id did!
Maybe it’s just the way you were holding your tongue.
This has been a shitty Mac SKP bug. And I think it still exists in 25, but I just moved my templates and got it setup yesterday. I’ll have more time later this week to test it.
To get back to work - CTRL S (shortcut for Save), CTRL Tab (switch to other app), CTRL Tab (switch back to SKP).
It’s ingrained now when I lose inferencing.
I’m on SU 24 could that be the problem? Do I need to upgrade? Kinda skeptical about upgrading. Don’t want to re learn SU
Why would you have to relearn SKP?
new program, new process I assume
guess I could try a trial
It’s the same program, just a new version, so it’s the same process, it’s actually an upgrade.
When you have an anual license you can update without having to pay anything extra as long as your license hasn’t expired, you can run sketchup 2024 and 2025 on the same Pc, so there’s no even need to uninstall the version you’re used to. Anyways when your license expires you won’t be able to use any version of the program, permanent licenses aren’t sold since 2021.
Just downloaded 25 and apparently the twilight render plugin I use for the final rendering is not available yet for the SU 25
IIRC Twilight is not developing anymore… so you were lucky to use it in 2024 (and 2023 I think). I can’t even get their website up anymore.
so do you know any alternatives (besides Enscape) to be used on OS?
MacOS? I don’t know what OS is.
I use VRay.
I"m using Mac Sonoma 14.6
I looked at V Ray, learning curve looked a little flat
Flat?
Enscape is supposedly easier to use than VRay.
You can also try Twinmotion.
I use Twinmotion on Mac, it’s not “simple” but learning is reasonable and the interface is more intuitive than it used to be. . It’s got quirks that take time to understand, but I get results I need. Any reasonably capable renderer is going to take some time to learn.
I used twilight a couple times some years ago, the free version delivered similar results to the new visual style added with SKP 2025, you just need to use the new materials. If you need to add artificial lights, you need another rendering engine, Enscape is one of the easiest to learn but it won’t work on your machine with AMD gpu, actually you’re quite limited with an intel mac, most of the programs have already migrated to be used with the apple silicon architecture. Vray I think still has an intel version for MacOS.
that was the problem!
