All Imports arriving upside down sound like the axes are wrong…
Does this also happen with inserted components from external ‘collections’ ?
Ensure the axes are fully reset - hover over them with the cursor, right-click > context-menu > Reset - it will be ‘grayed-out’ if they do not need resetting.
Once that’s done ensure you see sky/ground in your Style set up.
If the model is still flipped, switch View > Hidden Geometry > ON & in the Layer Manager set all Layers to be visible.
Select all and relocate / rotate the lot about the green or red axis as needed.
Remember that if you have created some Components with flipped axes, then any new ones of these will now insert ‘upside down’. However, you can select an existing instance and correct its axes, so now all of its instances’ axes will be corrected and its definition in the Components Browser will also be right…
You can’t reset a Group’s axes in this way - but if you need to fix that, then perhaps using Explode on it and an immediate Create Group would do it for you ? Renaming/re-materialing/re-layering etc to suit…
I was the one who originally had this problem. I had reset my axis to be straight up but would find that my axis was still off and my components were coming in inverted. I think what it was is that when I clicked on my scene tab the axis was still not updated and was set to the inverted axis so when I updated my scene the problem went away. Maybe give that a try?
Yes. It happens when I import from outside collections. I have reset the axis and flipped the model as you have suggested, to no avail.
I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment about the differing axes of groups. I had been experimenting with Michael Brightman’s concept of nested groups, and I have a lot of group axes in the model, many nested within each other. I believe that if I go back into the individual groups and reset all of the axes I may be able to sort the problem. Not a fast solution, but one that I think I can handle. Slow and methodical, but quite doable.
Thank you so much for your help with this – I believe you have solved my problem.
Thanks! I will try that. It might be the easiest solution. I wont be able to get to it for about a week, but when I find what works I will post what worked for me in case others are the victim of the same problem. Thank you for your time!
I did what you suggested, Dave, and reset the axis on each group. It worked like a charm. This is definitely something to watch when I decide to bring in a component and rotate it upside down. I wont be doing that again without re-setting the axis! Thanks for all your help!
