Import using Scan Essentials

I want to import an .e57 file, which is a supported file type of Scan Essentials.
I’ve installed Scan Essentials, closed and opened Sketchup, and validated Scan Essentials is installed.

When I try to import the .e57 I get a message saying “this does not appear to be a sketchup model”.
The file can be downloaded from here:

anyone any ideas how to import this into Sketchup?

Perhaps a silly question - if so, forgive me.

When you select File/Import, are you changing the selected file type to import, near the bottom of the dialogue where it says Format? It sounds as though you might have left it at the default of .skp,

I don’t have Scan Essentials, so I don’t seem to have the option of importing a file of type e57, But I would hope that you do.

What I see is a list of file types like this:

You have to “open” a point cloud file, it is then converted to a rwp file.

Perfect, thanks.

I was using File-> Open when I should have been using File->Import.
Very silly of me.

Perfect, thanks.

Silly me, sorry!
