Import Sketches from other programms

Hi,
We are thinking about using sketchup as a tool to create a layout of our production facility.
At the moment all the drawings are from an old/out of date program that doesn’t work anymore.
My question is if we can import those old files into Sketchup Free/Pro so we don’t have to start all over again.
The file types are .SKD and some .DWG
Thanks for your help.

SU Pro is your only option for commercial usage, and it will import .dwg files…

try the Pro Trial on a couple…

the .SKD will need converting to .dxf or .dwg first…

see if you can get AutoSketch Release 2.1fc [ converter ] to run on anything you have…

Thank you!
I tried the Pro version via the free trial and it went great. I think I will get my company to buy it.
Now that I have all the old .dxf files in sketchUp. Is there any way I can put them from 2D into 3D because right now the drawing is more like a picture in sketch up and I cant really work with it.

add one of the .dxf files and someone can see if it’s your settings or the content that’s lacking…

there are are some good tutorials on importing cad files…
