A long awaited feature. !!!
Good component searching like component finder-ish likd Flextools
Automatic assignment of a group or component by naming it and applying it to a tag and naming the tag all that inside one dialog box
We need that work process completely introduced to the world
Iāve heard this a couple times. I personally donāt have issues with dimensions.
When I presented at Basecamp I was surprised by the number of people who didnāt know about the double click with dimension strings.
Dimensioning on my plans is something that takes minutes.
Bring back single purchase perpetual licenses.
Trimble announced it was going to make LayOut an open API so plugins could be written and incorporated. When wil that happen?
Not saying the Layout problem got solved, thereās still strange problems using the drawing capabilities of the app. But one can get by drawing the 2D things in SU where thereās tools that one can also use for 2D, so that the drawing tools in Layout is so basic is not a crisis, to me. I use them for making simple things like masking part of a viewport.
Making construction details in Layout is something probably just a handful of people in the whole world is capable of.
But Layout as of the last 2 updates is very useable, for presenting viewports, text, dimensjons and labels, to the point where I no longer hesitate having people looking at the file directly while I use it.
Make the new āSnapsā feature work with dynamic components. I have an extensive library of dynamic components. I was really excited when I heard about the new āSnapsā feature. Then very disappointed when I discovered they wonāt move dynamically with the component. Please fix this!

i want Nodes Editor parametric as native tools for sketchup
Make the Component window searchable? Feels like a small ask.
Joint push pull can do that already.
Not the same thing. SketchUp has a myriad ways, with or without plugins, to create āclosedā āsolidā shapes out of adjoining faces, but the experimental feature the SketchUp team demoed nearly 20 years ago was about adding a āthicknessā feature to faces. It would, for instance, make using hole-cutting components truly useful, and simplify the modelling of walls, slabs and anything that can be seen as consisting of thick āboardā.
Not that fast⦠To achieve a clean result like this drawing, you need a lot of clicks and a little eraser to erase remaining traces.
How would SketchUp determine which side of all those faces to āfattenā? And how āfatā you want them to become? SketchUp canāt read your mind!
More user input is neededā¦
Improved tagging. Itās been mentioned more often in the thread.
The tagging folder seems a great improvement. In the past the lack of hierarchy in layers could be solved by a workaround: grouping groups on a separate layer, but you had to group them. Now you donāt anymore. Thumbs up for Sketchup.
Nevertheless this grouping of groups can be worthwhile. Say I have a window made up of groups tagged Glass, Window and Window frames. Now I can place them in a tag folder āWindowsā. Still I might want to be able to group windows individually and I want to know where to place those groups. The obvious place to be looking for those groups would be in de tag folder Windows, only I canāt place my group there.
So what Iām basically suggesting is to make a tag and a tag folder one and the same thing.
Another nice side effect is that you could make the Tags window similar the Outliner, which would clean up Sketchupās appearance, and therefore probably also make it more intuitive.
Iāve been wishing for something like this in Sketchup for ages, as I never found a proper place to place my complex components (please donāt tell me to leave them untagged, Iāve been there and have seen it).
Ok. Letās start a new topic, just to talk about Fat Faces⦠As the name says, this is what we want to investigate to see if it could be a new command for this new year that beginsā¦!
Here now we are launching general ideas for the new yearā¦
I did it with two clicks using the normal push pull tool from the extension, I had to delete few lines though.
Or as an afterthought, maybe to make it possible to go into a tag folder? Maybe that fits better in the Sketchup approachā¦
I agree with @tweenulzeven. Itās impossible to guess where the user wants the faces to be fattened.
If you want to build walls I recommend you Profile Builder plugin.
