IES VE 2015 Issue and other life ruining stuff

Totally fed up and lost as to why everything has been made so hard to just work. Long story short…

Use both sketchup and IES-VE (thermal simulation) on my Mac through parallels using version 2014, this worked great and even though i had the odd problem, no big deal…

So last night i installed version 2015, thats where I began pulling my hair out, immediately i noticed the IES buttons which are normally viewable had disappeared. I ran the repair and even restarted in order to try and use IES alongside Sketchup 2015, eventually caved in after an hour of no success I decided installing Sketchup 2014 was for the best. Only when i navigated to the website i was presented with only the Pro version of sketchup 2014, obviously being a student and broke, i wanted Sketchup Make 2014 (free).

Eventually accepted maybe Trimble have decided we’re no longer allowed 2014 for free (which works!) i’d be best trawling the net for an old instalation of 2014, found one, installed it and received the ultimate smack in the face of this…

Tried reinstalling, repairing, restarting and even changing the install location, looks like ketchup 2014 is also now broken. Nothing has worked, therefore i can no longer import my buildings that i spent all of yesterday making into IES, Sketchup 2015 doesn’t show the IES buttons like its supposed to and i can’t even get 2014 to work.

Trimble has no easy way of contacting them unless you’re a Pro user and I’m completely stuck and baffled as to why this just doesn’t work. I’ve updated everything to the latest version and still no luck.

If anyone has any advice on fixing this or help i would greatly appreciate it, after 3 hours of trying to work it out I’m borderline tempted to just do the manual calculations for thermal modelling.

I think part of the error message is missing, can you edit the post, select the error and click the Preformatted text button?
Looks like </>. Maybe that gives a better clue.

It could be that the extension hasn’t been made compatible with 64bit yet - I’m just guessing you installed the 64bit?

A box pops up with that in and an OK button, thats the full text for the 2014 version which used to work.

hm… that’s an unexpected error. Not sure what that is. Have you tried contacting the developer of the extension?

its IES and it was working just fine before, its since installing sketchup 2014 again, maybe its the copy I’m finding on the internet. Is it not possible to get Sketchup 2014 Make still for windows?

So I’ve been pretty much messing around with it all day and think the version of ketchup is whats causing it, I’m using an older version of 2014 but the IES plugin may be for the latest version. Ive tried removing and deleting everything from scratch but still no joy.

Therefore my next question would be, how do it get the latest version Sketchup 2014 Make. I have a license but its for Mac version and i need it to work on Windows since IES ran on Parallels doesn’t pick up Mac Sketchup and instead the Windows Copy. I use the Mac version to design in and the Windows version to identify rooms and import it into IES.

At this time, we only host the most recent version of SketchUp Make, which is 2015 right now.

My trial period run out today. It seems to be a popular topic.
I did go to the download page and down load sketchup make. When run it said it would update my installation which it did and I now have access to files made with 2015 pro trial and all others that 2015 updated from previous versions.
That was good to see as couldnt access anything.
I only remember one version when I down loaded ver 2015 a month ago.
The make version I downloaded now is newer then the trial version that download so I believe they have fixed the problem.

Thank you as I am starting to enjoy useing sketchup after a long leaning curve.
