Hey! I am very new to Sketchup, like today is my first day using it new. However, I can’t seem to figure out how to use the tags. All the videos I have watched have been no help, I believe I am trying to use it correctly, as I am doing exactly what all the videos are doing. But I am trying to add a new layer/tag, so when I click on the “add tag” button, nothing happens, a new “untagged” layer doesn’t show up in the side panel. Same thing with the tag folder.
Am I doing something wrong here? Why won’t it let me add a new tag?
I added a screenshot of the buttons which aren’t appearing to work.
Ahhhhhh, yup. that fixed it! Dragged it down and it showed about 50 tags and folders from all the times I tried to click that button open. Is it just me or is that little grey bar not very obvious?
Hmm… It looked like your tags panel was at the bottom of the Tray. Seems they are usually higher up (default). Maybe you dragged it down and the size changed? But yes, it was too small (but it still fit the 50 ;^).
Actually, behind the scenes SketchUp (on Windows) has been extensively changed to use the Qt GUI framework in Sketchup 2023 instead of the old Microsoft MFC (before SU 2023).
And yes there are still outstanding UI bugs (glitches) from this migration, which is not obvious to them (e.g. you) , who is started to use Sketchup with the “new” interface engine.
Hopefully these errors will be corrected in the near future… at least the developers are reportedly working on it…
So this kind of errors, you reported here , will help the devs to hunt it down… and repair.
To help achieve your goals, some time spent at the SketchUp Campus and at the SketchUp - YouTube channel will be very worthwhile. Both sites are from the SketchUp team. On the YouTube channel, pay attention to the Square One Series. It covers the basics for each tool.
