How to trim a hollow tube where it meets another hollow tube

I consider myself slightly above a hack when it comes tom SketchUp knowledge. That said - can someone explain how to get rid of the tail section of the tube that protrudes past the inside wall of the partial tube?

Can’t figure it out even after reading a zillion articles.

Box (above) solved my immediate problem. In a day or so I’ll go through your materials and Box’s solution and figure out what’s actually happening.
