How to remove an element from a group and tag it?

I’m working through the Campus tutorials and I’ve started to design a house. I created first floor exterior walls and put them in a group and gave them a tag. Now I made a copy of those walls and I want to use them on the 2nd floor, in their own group and have their own tag. I can’t figure out how to separate the new copy of the walls from the original tag. Right now, the second floor keeps disappearing when I turn off the first floor tag. I’m pretty sure this has to do with some entities being grouped improperly but I can seem to find them. I atttached my skp file so far. The original plans which I imported and drew from are not in a group and I’m using the hide function to hide those. Can anyone help with this. Thanks very much. Floor Plan9-17-21_2nd Fl.skp (8.1 MB)

In the foregrund you have two copies of the group in the exact same place. I’ve selected one of them and moved it up in the blue direction a little so you can see it. With it selected, you can change its name and give it your 2nd floor tag.

There’s a couple of things you need to fix about your model. First, the group contains a component. That component is unneeded. Second, the edges and faces have different tags. Notice with all the geometry selected, the Tags field in Entity Info is blank. ALL geometry should be untagged. Only groups and components should get tagged.

Here I’ve fixed the incorrect tagging.

And purged unused stuff from your file.

I’ve removed the unneeded component in the wall group, renamed it, and given it the 2nd floor ext wall tag.
