How to recover a file after a "BUGSPLAT" can't open it anymore :/

Hi, I can’t open my file anymore, it immediately crashes :c it says it’s a bugsplat.

Can anyone help me?
this is the model:

You shared the .skb backup copy, not the .skp. After changing the extension to .skp it opened fine. It’s a pretty large file. I started to do my usual cleanup on it and significantly reduced the file size and complexity of the model It could stand more cleanup though.

Try renaming the .skb and see if it will open for you.

Hi, first of all, thank you so much for replying. I tried changing the name and adding “skp” and is not changing the file to skp :c, I tried opening it but it has the same “bugsplat” message. Can you help me with how to change the extension to SKP pls

In Windows File Explorer right click on the .skb file. Select Rename. change the .skb to .skp. You do need to have the file extensions displayed in File Explorer.

Aww, I already changed it and tried opening it but it’s still damaged :sob:, could you send me the file you were able to open? :c if it’s ok and you have the time.

I copied it and changed the name and it’s still damaged

From your screenot it isn’t apparent that you renamed the .skb file.

Since it opens fine on my computer but not on yours, that implies it’s not a problem with the file. Are you using a cr acked version of SketchUp? Have you updated the graphics drivers for your graphics card?

Oh, ok, well, I changed de name to “remodelación.skp” and tried opening it again.

It’s not opening, appears bugsplat again, but I tried opening a previous file of the same model and everything else besides this file is working correclty, I think i might be due to the size of the file, because the previous save is half the size of this one.
My graphic card is updated, I have a AMD RADEON 5700 XT

It’s a normal version of Sketchup 2025.

Are you sending the Bug Splat reports in with your name and email address attached so that @colin might be able to tell you what’s causing the issue?

It might be the file size but it also might be the graphics drivers. I did some serious cleanup and also removed most of the heavy plany objcts which were making the model sluggish. If it opens for you go through it and replace the heavy, hi-poly components with simpler ones. No matter what the reason is for your problems with the file, you need to get into the habit of keeping them clean and lightweight.

Thank you so much for the help and the tips, the model you cleaned worked perfectly, I will start to learn how to keep my models clean and lightweight, I think that’s one of the reasons it got all buggy.
You were very helpful! thanks a lot.
