Imported dwg file in sketchup for floor plan, why all the lines broken, is there anyway or extension that can make faces with auto joining the edges. With the huge plan its time to build the face connecting the edges. Thanks

dwg importer imports lines. not faces.
you can re-draw some of the lines ant itâll recreate the faces.
or you can use a free plugin like Enerothâs face creator. or Alessandroâs Faceup.
here is a quick start with faceup.
import your dwg, either explode it or enter it.
optional, delete the stuff you donât want, there is always stuff you donât want.
then select all, right click, and make faces / extrude them. subcomponents (blocks) wonât be affected, only lines.
from there, each face that could be made becomes a 3d group. you can use solid tools to merge them, and add missing bits.
If the DWG has faces, the importer imports them.
here is the dwg file whats going wrong can u plz check

true, but fills / hatches are not perceived as faces though.
I have yet to import a 2d dwg file that will come with its fills converted to faces.
on the other hand, Iâve imported 3ddwg that came as 3d faces / volumes.
you need to clean your file first. looks like your doors contain several width.
you can also remove the furniture, you want walls, not symbols
if faces donât make themselves, itâs because⌠the dwg has tiny errors like this.
aaha how u did it can u explain me little in details plz
As @ateliernab pointed out, find the gaps and use the pencil to close them.
any plugin auto find and fill the gaps
how does the software know itâs a gap to fill and not an actual gap to keep ? there are tools that can point to you where 2 lines almost touch but donât.
but the software canât guess what should be or not be. it only provides the data as is
anyway to find the gaps?
@ateliernab answered your question already.
Youâll have to look for them.
What version of sketchup are you using? Edge tools is a plugin that can help you to find and close gaps automatically but you need to be using the desktop version of sketchup.
I only had to draw about 4 edges to make it work, it is worth doing it manually to understand where the faults lie. CAD files often have gaps and if you are going to try to use them you should work to understand the issues rather than expecting a plugin to do it for you. But I guess that is an old mans idea of life experience.
