just type.
take a tool, start drawing, then let go of the mouse, and simply type.
like, take the line tool, click once on the ground, move your cursor in a direction, let go of the mouse, and type a value. finally press enter.
Sketchup recognises when you type numbers that you type numbers. I remember working in archicad at some point (more than SU), and I would press tab by reflex to type values. in SU it’s just… typing. straightforward.
You ignored my post. I showed you exactly what to do.
Aha, sorry.
So what is the difference between downloading SketchUp (and paying for it monthly) and using the app?
the web version is a lighter version. and you’re dependant on your internet access. and it’s hobby / personal only
the pro version is more compete, you have access to extensions, ie. thousands of extra tools and functions, you can work offline on bigger files, and you can use it in a professional context.
Oh, thank you so much for that information!
So you signed up for a trial of sketchup pro and never installed or used the desktop app? You don’t need to get the pro version to be able to use the web version, I’ve actually never used the web version, when I started to use sketchup 13 years ago, you could get a free desktop application with all the tools available in the pro version even the possibility to install extensions, I moved to pro but I wasn’t really taking advantage of the whole sketchup package, I used to work on skp for the modeling and export to autocad for documentation, I decided to try Layout, a software that wasn’t available with the free version, and my life changed forever, since then I’ve never used autocad to make the documentation of a project, I do everything in layout and export it to autocad just to submit the files for its approval. A few times I’ve had to use Archicad, when the model gets to big, skp and Lo struggle, making it imposible to work with. But after many years I’ve learnt to optimize the model and I’ve being able to work with bigger files, it gets laggy specially on LO but not imposible to work with.
It works in the program, but not in the app.
You must have something wrong, then. My GIF shows it does work in the app.
Oh, how strange.
Is my operating system too old you think?
I guess you are using Swedish local setting in your computer. Therefore a decimal separator is comma and the list separator is semicolon. It is apply for the desktop apps.
On the web version - as your screenshot is showing - the list separator is a comma then a decimal separator is a dot.
Use it accordingly.
As @dezmo suggests, use the corect dimension separator. Drag out a rectangle and look to see what separator is displayed. Use the same one.
The OS isn’t the problem, sketchup behaves the same on different Mac OS versions.
Your profile name suggests you’re a hobbyist and as I can tell a newbie as well, it’s not something bad we’ve all been there, the specs of your machine I would say are the minimum to be able tu run sketchup, but if you plan to take it to another level, that machine will struggle a lot even with small-midsize projects, specially for documentation on layout
You mean my computer is too old for using only the app instead of the program?
(Sorry, my English is not the best.)
Nope, I said that if you’re model gets big your computer is going to struggle and may be difficult or imposible to work with, for small projects your computer can make it, but layout can get laggy even with small projects on your machine.
The OP is using SketchUp Make and SketchUp Free. They are not using LayOut.
I missed that screenshot. His profile indicates SketchUp Make. Clearly @HOBBYARCHITECT needs to update his profile.
