How do I resize an imported JPEG without affecting the image quality?

Hi there, I’ve imported jpeg images of plants (that I’ve saved from websites onto desktop) into Layout. I just learned how to mask clip so can crop them ok, but when I resize, the resolution then gets worse. How can I resize (in my case, to make them smaller), without sacrificing image resolution?

Thanks

To what do you have Image Display resolution set in Document Setup>Rendering? Before changing anything with the image, start with this. You can set it to High which will make it look nicer on the screen but may result in lowered performance depending on your computer’s capability. Output Resolution is more important since that affects your exported PDFs.

It’s already on High for Output Resolution

Is the image quality reduced when you export the PDF then?

Share the image you’re inserting and the LayOut file.

Just to clarify – I’m trying to resize the image when it’s in layout. I’ve not tried to export as PDF yet. I’m still working on the presentation document. Here’s one of the images…

So what you see in LayOut doesn’t reflect the resolution you will have in the exported PDF. Display resolution is normally lower than Output to help improve performance while you are working.

The image you shared comes in at the size shown below. I don’t know if the forum software is resizing it, though.

How large are you making it on the page?

Can you share the LO file with the image?

So I exported as pdf and as you said, the images are fine. So thank you for pointing that out.
