Howe can I “cut” a tube in a 45 deegres segment
One way would be to draw a face at 45° to the tube and intersect it with the tube. Then erase the waste.

I have also made a plugin that can be used for this:Extension | SketchUp Extension Warehouse.
Intersecting the faces manually as Dave showed creates the same end result and is sufficient for a lot of use cases. If you however perform this operation often, and want to align to an existing face, the plugin can save quite a bit of time.
