Is the PDF you attached what you are trying to achieve, or is this what you are getting and you are trying to achieve something else?
If it’s another style you are looking for, first save the a few scenes in you SU model with the style you want applied.
Then in LO, you can insert those scenes or change an existing scene to another style saved in you SU file. LO will only show you styles that have been applied to scenes with the active SU file.
Thanks for replying. I’m trying to achieve the style that’s in that pdf. When I was brought on this pdf already existed and the person who created it was fired, so when I was taught our processes this wasn’t included in the explanation.
I can’t tell if this a style that needs to be applied in SU or if it’s something on the LO side.
For something like that you would have to generate the style in SketchUp. You could probably get pretty close with ambient occlusion. It may also be that you would need to use a rendering application to get the soft shading and then insert those images into LayOut.
Upload it to DropBox or We Transfer and share the link.
FWIW, here’s a very quick example exported from LayOut. I just used the Monochrome face style with AO enabled and no edges displayed. punch.pdf (531.2 KB)
That looks like exactly what I’m talking about! I don’t see Monochrome face in any of the styles folders, is it something you need to download? Also, what is AO? sorry for the ignorance.
Edit the style and change the face style to Monochrome. Or you could use Shaded or Shaded with Texture with no material applied to the faces. Any of the three in the red ellipse will work. I just set the front face color to a gray with RGB set to 180,180,180.
Thank you! This solved the problem for the most part. I have a secondary question from this, some of the my components aren’t being affected by the style, is there a setting within a component that would make it not follow the style?
No. Changing it in SketchUp is right but if you’ve set up some scenes to use a different style or you’ve done something to disconnect the viewports in LayOut you would see what you describe. If you’d share the LayOut and SketchUp file I wouldn’t have to guess at what the problem is.
Either remove the materials from the model or select the Monochrome face style.
Also I would suggest editing the style to remove the sky and set the background color to white. Then you won’t need the rectangle.
You have a lot of incorrectly oriented faces. There should be no exposed back faces in your model. I’ve temporarily changed the back face to purple to make them easier to see.
After you have made the style adjustments remeber to update the style by clicking on the thumbnail at the top left of the Styles panel. Also create scenes for the required views of each object.
