Help opening possibly corrupted old projects

I have a number of Sketchup 2017 projects that have become unopenable following a migration to a new system. They were created in 2014 but I still have Sketchup 2017 Make running and think this should open them but instead of opening I get the 'Does not appear to be a sketchup model ’ message.

I’m not particularly technical but would really appreciate any support that might help me to open one of these models in particular, which was of a development that I’d planned to carry out to my property.
They are all large files, circa 50mb, suggesting I think that most of the information is still there. I don’t need to able to edit them, if I could just get images off them this would be a useful.
Any help would be appreciated.

Upload a couple of the files to Dropbox or We transfer and share the link. Maybe they are still viable but don’t hold your breath.

Thanks Dave. Should I just post the link to the Dropbox file here in the reply to you or would that make it visible to entire community?

If you post it in this thread the file would be available to all. If you don’t want that you could send me a DM by clicking on my name and then “Message”.

Thanks Dave, anything you could get would be appreciated.

I’ve uploaded 3 models to Dropbox, here are the links.

I created the projects a long time ago so can’t be sure which is the one I want although the planj file is the latest so it’s probably this one.

Hopefully this is only going to you but if I’ve got it wrong the whole world will know what I’d like my conservatory roof to look like. Or they will if they can open the projects!

The first link didn’t work but I was able to download the other two. Both of those files are nothing but zeroes which can be seen by opening them in a hex editor. Unfortunately there’s nothing to recover.

ok, that’s a shame but probably not too much of a surprise. Thanks for taking a look at it for me.

A lesson learned for me in backing up files and checking they’re ok before removing the originals.
