Hello,
I ma interior designer and I have bought a specific font I use on all my professional documents.
I shared this font with my team so that they can use it as well.
However we noticed an issue : for example I work on a document and then transfer it to them. When they open it, part of it is back to arial and not to the personalized font. Even if they click on it, it is written the name of the font… How can we correct that ?
Indeed we need to correct all the time when we share a file. And we need to go page by page to change it… Or is there a way to change it for all pages all together ? (even size of the font can be different).
Many thx for your help & advice
Maya
It would help if you’d identify the font.
It is font I bought, called wallop
Here some screeshots : you see that the bottom part is OK while the comments around the SKP view is in the wrong font. It was OK on my computer, but when my team opens it on the computer (they have the font installed on their Mac as well), the font is martially not correct on the doc.
And same when it is sent back to me.
Maybe @adam will have some feedback on this. I looked at three different sites and none of them indicates what file type the font files are supplied as. Are the OTF, TTF, or something else?
It is in OTF file… It works on part of the file but not the whole file as you see.
- in the meantime (hope @Adam has a solution
), is there a way to change the font on the whole document rather than changing it one by one, page by page ?
Many thx !
Adam will be able to tell us better but I seem to recall LayOut wants TTF fonts. Maybe that has changed, though.
You should be able to select all text entities on the page and change just the font. That works fine on Windows, anyway.
Sorry I don’t have a better answer for the font difference here.

OK I wait

OK I can’t select it for the whole file. I need to go by page if I understand well ?

No problem ; thank hou for your time and having a look !!
Yes. Of course any text on a shared layer only needs to be changed on one page.
OK Thx for the confirmation !
It’s 45€, from Wallop - Displaay Type Foundry and no free trials. Google’s Gemini, when I tell it the font is from the company Displaay, tells me it’s .otf as you mentioned. I installed another .otf font - and what’s weird is that it’s .otf, but it shows up in LayOut as TT, not OT.
Font name: Paula
Version: Version 1.000;PS 001.000;hotconv 1.0.70;makeotf.1b2.5.58329
OpenType Layout, PostScript Outlines
But it works. The ones that don’t work for you look like they’re bold? Is bold an option in that font?

When you bought the font did you create all new leaders and text from scratch? Or did you go in and change some of them from and old file?
I’ve seen some weird text issues when adjusting files from 2022 version in 2024. I wonder if this might be related.
And if not, when you change leader text have you tried deleting all the text, then selecting the font you want, then starting to type (if reusing and old leader) - sometimes there are trailing spaces that get left behind and I wonder if this might be confusing LayOut.
Actually the font works. The issue is when we share a document, and when she opens a document coming from my computer…
But @bmike might be right, maybe, part of the texte is a copy-past from an older document from LO 2022… and this part might appear wrong when we change computer ?
Maybe I missed it but does she have the font installed on her computer?
Make a test document. Start from scratch and make a few leaders and notes. Then pass it around the office.
Yes she have it installed on her computer
Yes we should do that. I keep you posted
I’m finding it impossible to get LayOut to display AvantGarde which is a .ttf font. When I select the text box it tells me that the font is the above, though it doesn’t display as such.
When I double-click into the font it then appears correctly, but only while the text box is being edited. It back to the incorrect font after that. This problem doesn’t seem to occur with other fonts except for one other that I noticed: arial narrow.
Are you using the new graphics engine?
What does it look like when you export to PDF?
Bang on the nose, thanks. That’s exactly the issue.
I exported to pdf with the graphics engine on and it exported fine.
I switched the engine off and then it displayed correctly.
Thanks again. Seems to be resolved.
