Guide lines and Dimensions are invisible

I’m hoping someone can help me. yes I’m new but I’ve searched and as far as I can tell my guides/dimensions should be visible. They show up while I mark them and as soon as I set them they vanish. But if I select all I can see them, or if I click exactly on them which takes a few tries to find, then it shows up. The guide lines and the dimension measurements are invisible.

I can only post one image so I’ve compiled what I hope will help show what I’m seeing:

As far as I can tell all my settings should be showing them? What in the world am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Share your .skp file so we can see exactly what you’re working with.

Generally your dimensions should be outside of the model.

Ok, here it is. Thanks for taking some time to help.

You have Color by Tag enable in the Tags panel, the color for Untagged is set to white and the dimensions are untagged.

Turn off Color by Tag and the dimensios will be displayed.

You should still put the dimensions outside of the plan.

Out of curiosity what is your plan for this model?

:woman_facepalming: This is what I get for clicking around on things I don’t fully understand.

Thank you. I didn’t find this answer anywhere.

My plan right now is to learn SketchUp, which will require I understand what I’m clicking on. This sounds silly, but I really got into building houses in The Sims4 video game, and wanted to do something more real world.

That’s a good explanation.

You might want to take some time to go through the instructional materials at learn.sketchup.com

Thank you! I will look into it

When you use SketchUp (SU), observe the status bar below the modelling window. SU is constantly telling you what you can do.

Open the Instructor Window and explore what it is telling.

Place the cursor over each Tool to get a text telling you the name of the tool.

Right click on objects in you model to bring up contextual menus. Look at the choices that are proposed in those menus.

Click on each of SU’s menu on top of the window and open all the sub-menus to see what is proposed.

When I started using SU that was at version 3.0. Using the above tricks, I learned the program. I also learned a lt by being a regular of @Last help forum.

Go to this Web page:

https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwivpqj3j4r-AhV2OLMAHSVwCu0YABAAGgJ5bQ&ohost=www.google.ca&cid=CAASJeRoeTxTM1CI_kXe20Mcpv0xiesCaJF8dwFytSwoTVAA8nwfoKU&sig=AOD64_3TA2WcerlGZLRMDXHskbh0AdSDeg&q&adurl&ved=2ahUKEwjDvqD3j4r-AhVVFVkFHXQ7DDIQ0Qx6BAgKEAE&nis=2

and click on Ressources (the fifth menu). You will be proposed a lot of useful places that will certainly teach you how to use SU.

Finally, do as Dave is telling you. Go to Youtube and watch the videos that are devoted to SketchUp.

I have the same problem, though I am quite proficient with Sketchup pro. I think it is a bug…

No. You have Colour by Tag turned on.

Guides, labels, texts are non-geometric and can safely have tags. Since default backgrounds are usually white, it is curious the devs chose white as the color for untagged.

just for future info, this is a duplicate from here

funny enough, same people answered both
In general, no need to ask a single question in multiple place, just give time to people to answer. we’re (almost) all voluntaries here. we have other things to do

You can always learn something new.
