My SU skills need a refresher. I successfully done lots of advanced modeling over many years, but I am mostly self-taught and there are lots of holes. I need to go back to 6th grade!
I do not know much about extensions, projecting textures, intersections, and advanced stuff like that. Any suggestions?

You could benefit yourself by spending some time at The SketchUp Campus. This is a site that will provide the basics for learning the SketchUp modeling process. Also, spend some time at the SketchUp SketchUp YouTube site. It provides much information including how to use each tool.
Best advice is to lean into the native tools. One can accomplish almost anything with the existing tools, extensions mostly help to speed up or automate modeling processes, they can be very useful and you will certainly acquire many organically as your specific needs arise if you continue to model regularly. But, a solid understanding of the basic tools will give you the strong foundation you need to progress quickly. The Campus link posted by @RLGL is a great resource, start there.
