Hi I’ve been having a constant issue with components purchased from Globeplants, I suspect its a file path error but not sure how to fix completely.
When working in a model and it crashes/bugsplats (the latest ones have been caused when attempting to copy multiples of a component using the protractor tool - bugsplat has been sent) upon reloading the recovered version of the model all my globe plant components don’t appear in the live rendering window and will either
A: need repathing via: Extensions - Vray - file path editor
or
B: Show up as black silhouettes
When this happens I have to delete all the components from the model completely, Purge unused via the model info window and purge via the Vray window, save model and start component import/placement again.

This happens when using Skatter as well

This is the file path I created to store the components (if its helpful?)

C:\Users\User\Documents\Chaos Cosmos\Packages\3D_Models\3D Assets - Plants (Globeplants)\maps_vrmesh

Any help would be much appreciated.

Luke

Sounds to me like a graphics card issue possibly. Usually you will be asked to post the model so they can try to replicate the problem or if they cant it might point to your machine.

Thanks Ivan, the model is too big to post unfortunately

you can post it to drop box or google drive or some other. then post that link here.

I tried to open the file in 2024 and it bug splat twice. It did open in 2023 so I opened another file in 2024 and turned off the new graphics engine then your file opened. So there is a clue. I dont have Vray loaded at the moment and I will admit im not that great with vray because I dont use it that often. Your suspect your path and that might be something to look at. I always import assets through Vray and I assume that takes care of where the asset proxy is mapped to the file for rendering. But clean up your model, purge out the components to get rid of any failed corrupt stuff. Try turning off the new graphics engine. And beyond that someone smarter than I am will surely chime in.

Hard to say what’s going on without seeing your settings/setup. For me, I was able to download the trees (I only tested these two birches) and they rendered fine. You can try 'merging the proxy object - which imports the separate materials into your model so you can check their paths or re-path as necessary. *note I tested this for both Interactive and static render and they both rendered fine.

Thanks Ivan

Yea sorry Eric I should’ve made that clearer, the components work fine in interactive and full render until sketchup crashes then they show up black. Its like the materials/textures need repathing but when I check in the Vray repath menu they are correctly pathed
