Getting a "you're not licensed" error message

I’m an architect and educator and will be looking for user tips. currently i can’t open my files because i’m confronted with an error message, “you’re not licensed,” but i purchased a license only a few weeks ago. advise would be appreciated

I moved the message here, but I think this is going to be about the EDU Studio Subscription. That is handled by Creation Engine, but I do see that the subscription is assigned to the email address you use in the forum.

You won’t have a ‘Classic’ license, but signing in with your email should let you use either the desktop application or the web version.

Hi @padamson2, thanks for the post and sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with accessing your SketchUp files. As usual, Colin is correct that education subscriptions are managed by the company that you bought the license from.

If you are in USA or Canada, you need to talk to Creation Engine and if not, you can find out who you need to talk to here: Find a SketchUp Reseller – Connect With a SketchUp Partner | SketchUp

As for the file, if you need to work on it right away and can’t wait for a reply, you can try using the web version although that version won’t have access to some of the desktop features like extensions. It will however let you keep working while you wait for a reply from your reseller partner. It is up to you if that would work for what you are doing or not as without seeing your workflow I can’t offer any advice one way or another.

Additionally, when you have a chance, update your profile to reflect that you are using SketchUp Pro and not SketchUp for Schools as that is a different version than the desktop app you are using.
