Getting a circle to center on the bottom of a pillar

Working on the playground exercise that is part of the fundamental exercises.
After drawing the pillars, the instructor demonstrates drawing a circle on the bottom of the pillars in order to modify the base. He selects Circle tool, and hovers over the midpoints of two bottom edges of the selected pillar, then moves the pencil to the center of the pillar, saying he has just created an inference point there. Then he clicks on the center of the pillar to start the circle.
When I do this no inference point is created in the center, the tool just keeps jumping out to the inference points on the edges. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, Ken Practice playground.skp (53.5 KB)

Sorry, problem solved. I just needed to zoom in more to give more room to find the inference in the center. Thanks, Ken
