Not sure for SketchUp Free users but for SketchUp Go you can access earlier versions of a file by going to the Trimble Connect account. Tick the box at the lower left of the model thumbnail and look at the sidebar. Click on the link showing the number of versions in history. Again, for hobbyists this feature may not exist.
